Here is my post from dailymile:
The half marathon went great. I really wish I'd pushed it earlier in
the race so my time was under 2 hours, but I did shave 10 minutes off my time
from the half marathon last year, so I can't complain too much. The
weather was perfect - mid- 60s and overcast. The course and event
details went pretty well for an inaugural event. Next year I hope they
have more bathrooms at the start, solve the gear check clusterf*ck, and
have a more visible finish line.
I'll write more about it later -- and I'll update my time with the
official (I think it was 2:01:57 or something). But for now, I am going
to make myself some grilled cheese and tomato soup and put in a movie.
Getting up at 4:30 am has me beat.
The data for my run:
Max HR: 190 (99%)
Avg HR: 168 (88%)
Calories burned: 1480 (25% fat)
Here is the official info: I was disappointed to see that I was at
2:02:02, not the 2:01 that I had hoped. But, I was happy to see that I
was well into the top half (1252 out of 3002), placed 510 out the 1757
women running, and 146 out of 451 for my division. Best of all, I
successfully recorded a negative split (1:05:25). I usually lead off
too fast and tire early on. While I wish I had pushed it more to earn a
sub 2-hour, I am happy to see that I am learning (and implementing)
racing techniques that keep me finishing strong.
Half Marathon 2008: 2:12:26
Half Marathon 2009: 2:02:02
Imagine if I can shave 10 more minutes off next time!
